“To create one's own world takes courage.”- Georgia O’Keeffe

"I was born an artist and knew from a very young age that I wanted to work with clay. I took ceramic classes from time to time, but it was an endeavor that had to wait. Until then, I occupied myself with other artistic mediums. For the last 26 years, I made art in the form of interior design. My style was and always will be timeless, found, and organic. I opened a beautiful design studio and shop that showcased my discoveries alongside my artwork and that of fellow artists. The constant thoughtful curation of it was where I shined, and I put that skill to use every day in my art practice.

My tools and materials are from the earth - clay, pods, dried blooms, fibers, and skeletons from plants and animals, a touch of linen or hemp, and encaustic wax. A highlight of my day is the morning walk along our meandering paths, gathering art supplies from the land.

Ceramics - I'm endlessly fascinated by the dual nature of clay. With my hands, I shape cool, damp earth that carries millions of years of stories. Once fired into enduring form, I hold it again, listening to those narratives before I pass them on to the next caretaker.

Encaustic painting captivates me with its natural origins and infinite possibilities. Working with the wax lets me explore and create art that evolves with every layer, each blast of the torch. Unlike fired clay, it can always be reworked, which is both a blessing and a curse.

Organic assemblage - Every root and piece of cholla wood I discover seems to possess a face or a body, whether human or otherworldly. I sift through my collections, seeing each in a new way every time. I talk to them and decide who will I give voice to, which will be the lucky one today. Other found desert treasures make their way onto my fired ceramics, adding texture and interest to each piece.   "
